Read a great article by James LaValle, ND. He has concern over a headline in the NYT  “When Economy Sours, Tootsie Rolls Soothe Souls”.  Since our top stressor on the matrix this week was undiagnosable pain, this information might be timely, because he says that sugar depletes chromium and magnesium, which leads not only to insulin resistance but also inflammation and pain. Studies also found that sugar raises triglycerides and even increases the production of fat from foods!
This does not sound too soul-soothing.
The article also mentions that a study from 2004 found that people who were depressed and as a result craved carbs had significantly reduced carb cravings and improved mood and energy when given 400 mcg magnesium and then 600 mcg  chromium. He said “instead of reaching for the candy bowl try some chromium instead”.
You may want to check this out with your doctor or nutritionist if sugar cravings are a problem!
